Arlo  is a beautiful colourful elephant.  This is the original 80x70cm oil painting on canvas with a grey background.

You might have seen some of my colourful elephants before, for instance,  Hugo the elephant is a best selling print. Hugo,  and this elephant Arlo are based on real elephants that I have encountered on the Masai Mara. Happily African elephants are not held in captivity in northern Europe and as a consequence when you see an African elephant for the first time you really gasp at their  size and majesty. They took my breath away. So my bold colour choices have been based on how can I take your breath away when you look at my elephants. This particular elephant has been painted in such a way that it almost reminds me of a stained glass window. I adore using colour in surprising ways and elephants seem the perfect model for me to do that Arlo the elephant was seen out on the main reserve of the Masai Mara in the early morning sunshine and I took many many photographs of him whilst also sketching him in my sketchbook. Seeing a completed oil painting from such an inspiring moment is a real joy for me.

Arlo  would be the  perfect finishing touch to any room and will make you smile every time you look at him.
