Description

Donatello is a beautiful original oil painting of a green sea turtle  surrounded by  quirky bubbles, on a linen background.

70x70cm, oil on linen.

I love painting turtles, there are so many colours that work beautifully on their shells, and crispy fresh citrus colours can sit alongside deeper greens and warm browns.

When out in Africa, some turtle eggs were protected and being watched each evening as the day of their hatching approached. Much excitement surrounded this. Unfortunately for me they hatched a fe days after our departure. But that’s a great excuse to try and go back another year!

This turtle is painted using the finest quality oil paints on  a linen canvas,  built up from many layers of paint giving it a beautiful depth.
