Kasi , meaning fast, was inspired by vistsi to OFfbeat mara camp on the Masaii Mara.
We were lucky enough to see cheetah every day. Cheetah have the characterisitc balck lines from their eyes to their cheeks, sometime nicknamed their “sungalsses” as the balck fur helps reduce the glare of the African sun. Cheetah, unlike lions and leopard, can only hunt in the day so they have to be able to cope with the strong African sunshine.
Layer upon layer of oil paint builds the cheetah, with beautiful vibrant colours against more naturalistic ones,
At 70 × 70 cm, Kasi carries the presence and vibrancy of my larger Africa works, but is more suited to this size. This piece is a true one-off, not available as a print, for a collector seeking something unique.
