Amani is a well known and monitored female cheetah. She is a phenomenal Mum, and has raised several large litters successfully.
We were lucky enough to see cheetah every day. Cheetah have the characteristic black lines from their eyes to their cheeks, sometimes nicknamed their “sunglasses” as the black fur helps reduce the glare of the African sun. Cheetah, unlike lions and leopard, can only hunt in the day so they have to be able to cope with the strong African sunshine.
Layer upon layer of oil paint builds the cheetah, with beautiful vibrant colours against more naturalistic ones,
At 70 × 70 cm, Amani carries the presence and vibrancy of my larger Africa works, but is more suited to this size. This piece is a true one-off, not available as a print, for a collector seeking something unique.
