Abedi

£1,050.00

Abedi the elephant.

Original painting. Oil on linen 90×90cm

This painting came from a real moment on safari. One morning on our early game drive we saw a family of elephants happily munching on teh shrubs having their breakfast. A large matriarch stood her ground, gently protecting her family from us. She didn’t charge, nor did she need to, she simply walked near adn then stood, safe in the knowledge that all was well. What a moment. What a glorious thing to have witnessed.

Often my elephants contain bright colours mixed along with the naturalistic grey and soft browns. This is because the first time I saw an elephant in the wild it took my breath away. It made my heart melt and it made me go “wow” . And my colours are designed to make you go “wow” too. This elephant would have a presence in your home and yet is calm and gentle. It's a balance I try to create.

The elephant is painted in oil on linen but it is worth noting that the background in this particular painting is not the natural linen showing through but instead it's a gentle warm pale grey background. This gives the bright colours space to breathe and would look superb in a neutral room allowing one of the colours used to be an accent colour elsewhere in the room with for instance cushions or other soft furnishings.

You might like to know that the name Abedi is a Swahili name.
