Zebras are rarely just black and white. In the shifting light of Kenya’s Mara, their coats seem to shimmer with unexpected colour. Ziggy was inspired by those moments, when the sun catches the plains and the air feels alive with movement. I’ve used vibrant tones of pink, blue, yellow and violet in place of the white stripes, creating a zebra that feels joyful, energetic and full of character.
Painted on linen, the linen backgourn softens the bold palette giving those colour space to breathe, while the zebra’s calm expression keeps the work grounded. At 70 x 70 cm, this piece brings a lively burst of colour and the memory of African light to any room.
