I love painting stags. Most of my stags are inspired by trips to the New forest - or from Longleat Safari Park where it's significantly easier to get reference photos! I’m even lucky enough to have some deer that can occasionally be seen at the bottom of our garden though they tend to be much smaller. This stag, different from my ones with a linen background depicts the the greens and flashes of light you see through the forest. Lots and lots of layers fo oil paint make for a vibrant piece with realism and expressive brushstrokes blended together
