This one, whilst reminiscent of many beautiful coastal places around the UK, is inspired by times on the beach in Dorset. Near to the beach where we played as kids, was a lovely old fashioned house, and in its front garden was an absolutely picture of a cottage garden with fox gloves and delphiniums and daisies. I thought the view from inside that garden must have been the most beautiful in the world with flowers in the foreground a wonderful open sea view.
It’s a gentle, layered piece with subtle colour and movement — like the tide coming in without fuss. Painted from sketches, happy childhood memories and feeling, this is one of those pieces that says everything without shouting.
Unframed — comes with D-rings and hanging cord attached, ready to hang.
