This one, whilst reminiscent of many beautiful coastal places around the UK, is inspired by times on the beach in Dorset.
This painting is based on a walk along Avon beach towards Highcliffe castle. It was a favourite when I was young and it’s still a favourite of my Mum’s, especially when she’s dog sitting my beloved Cockapoo Mr Bumbles. He loves it there too. We walk along together as happy as Larry.
The wild flowers in the foreground are an exaggeration, but they are so similar to the ones at the top of the cliff, so I’ve added some romance and joy to the beach with these beautiful flowers.
It’s a gentle, layered piece, Painted from sketches, happy childhood memories and feeling, this is one of those pieces that says everything without shouting.
