Anyone familiar with Salisbury will know there is a lovely walk from Queen Elizabeth Gardens over to the Old mill. This walk across the old town path gives beautiful views across the water Meadows over to Salisbury Cathedral. It's an absolutely stunning little walk and I'd recommend it. This painting is based on the view from the old town path but in the height of Springtime when there are lots of wildflowers growing and you can see a combination of tall grasses with jewel-like colours dotted through the grasses were wildflowers grow. A rather romanticised version of course, but it's a way of capturing the magic of that view and for early risers the morning mist over the meadows with the cathedral glimpsing through it, is the absolute cherry on the cake for that walk!
This painting is built up of many layers of oil paint allowing the background to virtually disappear into the mist where the full ground is a blaze with vibrant pinks and blues and turquoises.
Unframed — comes with D-rings and hanging cord attached, ready to hang.
