Something Wild is Coming to Fisherton Mill
There’s a particular kind of excitement in the studio right now — that mix of anticipation, last-minute tweaks, and the knowledge that soon, all the canvases that have surrounded me for months will finally make their way onto gallery walls.
In less than two weeks, my third solo exhibition at Fisherton Mill in Salisbury will open: Wild World.
Behind the Scenes
Preparing for an exhibition is never just about painting. Of course, the canvases come first, but there’s also the process of choosing which pieces belong together, deciding how they’ll speak to one another on the wall, and making sure every work has its story ready to share.
Over the past year I’ve filled page after page of my sketchbooks, capturing fleeting moments — a stag in the New Forest, a quick sketch along the Dorset coast, and even the big, bold animals I’ve been lucky enough to see on safari. Some of those sketches stayed where they were, others grew into large oil paintings that now form part of this show. Each piece carries the immediacy of that first impression and the depth of colour and detail added later in the studio.

A Wild World of Inspiration
If you’ve visited my exhibitions before, you’ll know me for my African wildlife — elephants, lions, and the like. They’re still here, but this time I’ve broadened the view. Wild World also includes British wildlife such as Highland cows, stags and hares, alongside floral landscapes inspired by Wiltshire fields and Dorset seascapes.
It’s an eclectic mix, but what ties it all together is my love of colour, light, and the joy of painting the world around me — both near and far.

Exhibition Details
Wild World opens at Fisherton Mill, Salisbury on 4th October. Fisherton Mill is one of my favourite places to exhibit — a historic gallery that also houses artists’ studios and a fantastic café.
This is my third solo show here, and I’m thrilled to be returning. If you’re in Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire — or further afield — I’d love for you to see the exhibition in person. Whether you’re drawn to wildlife paintings, colourful landscapes, or simply curious to explore, this is a chance to experience my latest work before it finds new homes.
What’s Next
I’ll be sharing another blog post next week, once the exhibition is hung. That one will include a peek behind the scenes, photos from the Private View, and even a short video tour of the gallery.
For now, consider this your invitation to save the date and join me for Wild World at Fisherton Mill — a colourful celebration of animals, landscapes, and the joy of our natural world.
Getting inspired in Venice. There are some pieces in this exhibition inspired by travels in Italy.
